Big, Bold Reds Wine Dinner

For our final wine dinner of the year at Watts Grocery, we are going to delve into a theme perfect for colder weather. We are putting together a dinner based around nothing but big, bold red wines! We picked out a selection of our favorite red wines from around the world, the kind of great, dense red wines that help to chase away the winter's chill. Chef Amy Tournquist and staff are now working hard to plan a menu of their great new Southern delicacies to pair up with these robust gems. Mark your calendar and plan on staining your teeth purple with us this December!

1st Course - Grilled Quail in an Aigre-Douce Sauce
served over a Shitake Potato Croquette

Primitivo Quiles Wine Dinner

For their December dinner, Primal will be exploring the Monastrell based wines of Primitivo Quiles, a fantastic winery out of the Alicante region of Spain. The evening will start with a specialty cocktail utilizing Primitivo Quiles unique Vermouth, which we recently also added to our selections here at the store. From there we continue on with the three red selections from the winery including the Cono 4, which we have worked with for a while now at HVBS; the Raspay Tinto coming from 80+ year old vines; and finally the incredible Fondillon, a solera style wine dating back to 1948! (A solera style wine has the current vintage mixed in barrels with older wines dating back many years, resulting in a bottled wine with components aged perfectly back through the years). These are unique, compelling wine, and it will be great fun to see what the Primal staff pairs up with these wines!

New Year's Eve is a wonderful celebration, but there is always too much to do. Should you go to the party you were invited to, or do you attend the specialty dinner you saw advertised? Do you really want to be out on the roads on the same night as so many other revelers? Well we have teamed up with Four Square Restaurant to make those decisions easier for you, and to maybe let you have your cake and eat it too! Join us the night before, on the Eve before the Eve, as we do a fantastic wine dinner pairing Chef Shane Ingram's delectable dishes with some of the best bubbles around. Indulge in a specialty dinner with us, and then still be able to go to any parties you've been invited to! We've selected the wines, as listed below, and the menu and pricing should be coming soon!
